You'll have a tough time getting the Huffpoopers to sit still long enough to read your entire post. They simply do not have the patients, or at times, the educational level to comprehend words beyond the F-you, GFY, Your Momma did this or that, or any other number of wonderful sentiments they hurl toward someone they deem to be of, dare I say “the Right”.

What cracks me up is that in their haste to bash the other side vs listening or (reading) to understand, they have even attacked their own. Now that’s comedy. (Okay, maybe only to me but then I also have a sick sense of humor or so I’m told.)

I think you’ve captured well the differences between the two sites. Although, I do not read LGF as much as I probably should I’m drawn to the Huffpo for a number of reasons. I too like the open forum that the site offers. As I’ve said in a previous post to her site, it’s much like America in that it is a true melting pot and a reflection of what America really is . . . people with as different an opinion as they are different in real life and backgrounds.

Free speech should never be censored. I have no problem with casting out disruptors for violating common decency but the ability to have your say should be paramount above all else. Just because I may not like what someone has to say doesn’t mean they don’t have the right to say it. If we all remember, America was partially founded on that simple principal. In that respect, the Huffpo has it hands down. You should have left her that point because I think it was and is well earned. They are ineffective at removing the disrupters though so maybe we could penalize her for that but not enough to take away the point well earned.

You’ve also put your finger on something else that is striking about the Huffpo. Her members, (of which I must count myself as one) seem to think that they are actually debating over policy . . . as if someone on high is actually caring what they have to say and will react to their words.

That might actually be the case if the members were truly there to debate policy or current events but far too often the threads devolve into an us against them mentality. The threads always seem to boil down into “Republicans only respect the dollar and can’t seem to satiate their taste for bloodshed, while Democrats only want peace throughout the land and equal wealth for every individual regardless of their effort to earn it.”

Neither case is 100% true but to the average huffpooper, it doesn’t really matter. The lines are drawn and the battle is both the fun and the attractant. For many, that’s enough.

On occasion, you will see the postings of one or two who have given genuine thought to the topic at hand but they are far and few between. It’s too bad too, because sometimes their postings are so spot-on that I just wish our political leaders in Washington would sit up and take notice and read what they have to say. It might not change the world but it might make a difference in how our leaders react to what happens in it.

I have to say that I’ve enjoyed your post immensely as I hope you will my reply. Keep up the good work, and keep on writing.

From one blogger to another, take care and I'm sure I'll see you around. If I do, I'll be sure to say Hi.

Thanks for the good word,RSU.
You would enjoy LGF as a place that will actually tweak your brain sometimes and is really good at busting 'creeps'.Seems to be quite a few accomplished folks around there. I haven't caught the register being open yet but I check back often.
I just saw the fact that these two 'sites' as being the representation of both sides of the fence that allow readers comments so I am going to continue on this work in progress here to mirror current events and how my arguments seem to have merit.
